I do lots of sketching in coffee shops. It’s warm, the coffee’s good and there are people to sketch. This particular shop is also a flower market plus lost of decorative odds and ends and displays. I did these sketches on toned paper with pen and ink and white gel pen.
I’ve been studying the painting techniques of Adelene Fletcher from her book The Watercolor Flower’s Painter’s A to Z. She gives very detailed instruction and I have done several flowers from her book hoping to learn her techniques. This morning I picked some grape hyacinth and painted my own floral!
i like to mix my watercolors in little white ceramic dishes.
i loved the apron murals on the walls at Farina Bakery. After sketching this on location, I used gouache to paint it after I was home.
